Oakley Tubes

Oakley got ear tubes at 14 months!

It has been a very hard first year with this little guy. It seems he is sick all the time! It has been very discouraging.

He had 6 infections in 6 months. The last round of sickness was a real struggle as it was effecting eating/sleeping/growth. We did back to back antibiotics as it did not clear the infection. Our pediatrician suggested we get into an ENT and consider tubes before teething and cold season hit. I called right away got on a waitlist for a couple months out...at the time it felt like an eternity. There's nothing like a sick kiddo and difficult nights.:(

We had to be at the hospital at 5 a.m. for the procedure. Oaks fell asleep on the way with a book over him, haha. The hardest part of the day was not being able to feed the boy! Mike distracted him with blowing up glove balloons, books, and shows. It was tricky! This guy loves to eat!

The nurse anesthetist was a good friend of ours from church which was such an incredible blessing! He came and got him and let him watch paw patrol on his phone...he didn't even cry when they took him away! The whole procedure took less than 10 minutes.

After he was done, he was irritable for an hour or so. Shortly after we got home, he was back to his normal self. Jumping off of things, watching shows, and eating. We noticed him discover his voice that afternoon. He became a lot louder and kept making sounds and listening to himself. It was pretty sweet!!

He held onto this elmo sticker the entire time and had it in his hand on the way home too:)
